GP- has been in the medical field since she graduated high school. She earned her certificate as a nurse’s aide in high school and worked as a CNA for ten years. GP cared for many people during that time including Alzheimer’s patients, cancer patients and patients rehabilitating after a stroke or hip surgeries. Her favorite area for caring for patients was in the comfort of the patients own home. So, when she went to nursing school many years later, GP knew home care was her calling. She earned her nursing degree from Naugatuck Valley Community College and graduated in 2005 and became a registered nurse. From there she worked for Mid-State Medical Center in Meriden Connecticut where she cared for post-op surgical patients as well as cancer patients. She worked with a lot of knowledgeable people who taught her a great deal. As she was gaining her med-surg knowledge at the hospital, GP had the opportunity to start caring for a medically complex child in the home with All About You Home Care. From there, she was able to spread her wings and except the position as Pediatric Case Manager with All About You. With this position, GP had thirty patients to case manage and over fifty nurses to oversee train and support. In the pediatric program, she quickly learned that she was not just caring for the patient but for the entire family as a whole. This was quite challenging, rewarding and exhausting at times but she felt honored to be a part of it. This position entailed a great deal of helping the families get the services, equipment and support they needed. This was no easy task. GP did this for three years and then it was time to spread my wings again. She handed over her kids to a wonderful Pediatric nurse so she could take her new position as a supervisor of clinical services. GP continues to train & orient all the new nurses and make sure they are competent to care for our medically complex patients. Along with this, she reviews the entire medical & psychiatric plans of care for all the patients from our Naugatuck and Torrington offices to be sure we are providing quality care to our community. She has found great pleasure in being a part of serving the community and being a member of the All About You Home Care family and team.
